I got the Whiting dinner with mac n cheese, cabbage, and yams. I also got a slice of BBQ meatloaf and let me tell you....it was all delicious. I will be back. It is some of the best soul food in Columbus.
Yesterday was 6-7 time purchasing food from here. Unfortunately, I was Very Disappointed with the Meals I purchased for Take Out. I ordered a (2 pc)Catfish Meal ,I was given I piece of Catfish and 1 the piece was Whiting fish. I've been in the Food Industry for 40+ years ,And I know the difference between the two. Secondly, I ordered a Whiting meal with Greens and I was literally given 3 Tablespoons of Greens. As I stated this was Take Out,so I didn't see All of this until I got home.
I tell you what, from my very first bite, I had a nostalgic flashback to the good Ole days when my grandma use to cook holiday meals or Sunday dinner. It is so hard to find delicious soul food, but baby... come here they have mastered the meaning and taste of soul food. I had the pleasure of shaking hands with the chef as well. And what a pleasure. Keep up the great work.
This food is absolutely delicious. I would consider it some of the best soul food I’ve had in Columbus. They don’t have many people working so be patient because the food is definitely worth the wait. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The portion sizes are great and the price is really good too because you get one meat and three sides. I enjoyed everything I tried.
Yall get in here! That food wasn’t just good... that food was magically, spiritually, ancestrally delicious. I’m talkin’ $55 plate worthy confidence. I would’ve paid it with my chest and asked for a receipt to frame. The prices? Fair. The portions? Respectful. The flavor? Somebody me-maw been whisperin’ to the pots. Now the grape drink… 🟣🔥 Baby, that wasn’t a beverage that was a childhood memory! Like took me straight back to somebody auntie house where you gotta ask before you touch anything. We got the shrimp basket for the kids, mac & cheese on deck, spaghetti with that turkey meat (I see you tryin’ to live), perch dinner with greens, mac & cheese, AND the meatloaf. And let me tell you somethin’… this place did not miss. Not once. Not a toe. When I say we almost drank the juice out them greens like it was communion? BABY. That’s how you know it’s real soul food. Best soul food in the city. We will be back 💃🏾
I went here with a Mac and cheese craving without knowing that’s something they’re apparently at least a little known for- and it did not disappoint. A little greasy, doesn’t exactly scratch that classic, softer and lightly dry baked mac and cheese itch I usually want but this was perfect for what I wanted in the moment, and there was just so much of it for the price- and it seems like it’s the same for everything on the menu! You can get a lot for not too much money, or you can spend a moderate amount and be given what feels to me like a boatload of food. Though I also have a bit of a smaller stomach, and that may be a contributing factor haha. Staff was super great and friendly, I had a few questions (the V on their menu is for Vegetarian, not Vegan, etc) and they were happy to answer them. Definitely was tempted by their other options, maybe on another day I’ll come back and try more of their options! Their more specialty food and drinks seemed delightful!
It's very rare that I give a restaurant 5 stars but I have no notes for Frans meat + three. Yesterday I got the meatloaf and it came with three sides. Unheard of. And everything was so delicious that I am back again for the second day in a row. The macaroni and cheese is the star of the show and the service is very fast. I have eaten at every restaurant in East market but this is the only one I come to now. Oh and did I mention that it is black woman owned? Run, don't walk.
My Boyfriend and I came here 11/15 the food was amazing out of all the places the cleanliness of the space the hard working gentleman in the back tentative but also working hard. I got the meat loaf Mac and potato salad also tomato salad and corn bread everything was so good. It felt like I was back at my great grannies table. We enjoyed the food and the space East market had to provide we will be back. Literally zero complaints which is rare for us. lol
